I really have no idea what Iggy is talking about, as Barkbusters training uses positive reinforcement methods with no physical contact at all.
I had great success with this method training a fear aggressive shelter dog.
However, what you learn really depends on how good your trainer is. I have heard of many unhappy people who had trainers more interested in the money than the dog. I take some of it with a grain of salt, as some people just expect the trainer to do the work for them, and the result is their own fault. I was very happy with my trainer, who had quite a bit of experience and also was familiar with the breed I was training. (ACD)
Barkbusters gives you what you put into it. The trainer doesn’t train your dog-he trains you to train your dog. You have to do the work and train daily to get the results you want. In my opinion, that is the way it should be. After all, if the dog belongs to you, you should have the responsiblility of training it.
If you are up for learning some very interesting things about your dog, and have the time to practice your training daily, you will surely have success with this method. It takes time, but the “short” methods usually involve some kind of “cruelty”.
