With Collar training, bathroom training etc. all the basics.
Thanks for the inputs so far! It’s not my puppy, so how could i convince my cousin to start training the pup?
(she’s really young, like 6 weeks. apparently the mother was rejecting her. idk though…)

It’s never too early to start training!!! Starting right away will ensure that you are encouraging good behavior as well as not confusing him!!!
As soon as you get the dog training should begain so he doesnt get use to anything he shouldnt be doing
When the puppy is young. if it is a wild one NOW
By the time a puppy is twelve to fourteen weeks old it should have the attention span for brief, simple, training sessions. They sooner you start the better.
You start from the moment you bring him into your house.
Go to pawpersuasion.com there are detailed articles there on pup training that will answer your questions and more.
Crate training should be started as soon as possible. As far as collar training, don’t start that until he has learned the commands. Collar training is just for reinforcement and not for actual training. To train him find a toy he really likes, say the command and ease him into that position, as soon as he is in the position immediately reward him. Repeat this several times a day for about a week and he should be able to do the command on his own. You can start doing this once he has his adult teeth in (about 2-3 months).
asap
You should start training your puppy specificly at 5 pm on a sunday in the year 2010? I dunno, whenever you feel the pup is ready, the sooner the better
I started training Toby as soon as I got him and he is now almost 4 months old and completely house broken. He has also had a collar and I didn’t put him in a crate I use a baby’s “pack and go” play playpen and he sleeps there. He is trained to stay in his carrier during car rides. So sooner is better. Take puppy to same place and about every 2 hours or 30 minutes after eating for potty and tell him “pee pee” and “poo poo ” remain with him and be patient and consistent.
Leash training should begin as soon as possible also so they are used to the leash.
It takes a lot of dedication but it is all worth it. What you gain is a loyal and obedient pet. A friend for the life for you or the dog, great companionship and unconditional love.
I got him at 6 weeks.
Start training now!!!! The sooner you start, the better behaved the dog will be in the long run. Especially if it is a large breed. When they get unruly and excited they can do real damage, both to you and your house!
Tell your cousin that if he/she waits then it will be *much * harder. I do competitive obedience, and training a young puppy is soooooo easy, even compared to an older pup of 15 wks. I have trained dogs for 30 years, and the younger you start training, the easier it is……no doubt about it. I put a collar on the day they come in the house, I make sure it fits, and it stays on. Once the pup realises it’s not coming off, then that’s that. I crate train straight away and I train the basics from the word go. I put a *very* light nylon lead on the pup, and, sitting on the floor, give very gentle tugs on it. Each time I give a small tug, I give the pup a treat. I don’t hold the lead……I let it hang loose, and pick it up to give that small tug…and treat. Soon the pup loves seeing me pick the lead up, and it loves the tug, because it knows there’s a treat following. This is really useful for when you first go outside, and the pup maybe plonks itself down. Just a *very* gentle tug, and the pup remembers all the “tugs and treats” and immediately follows. I also train Come with treats. With no lead, I throw the treat a short way away from the pup, pup runs out and eats it, and comes back for another treat. I do this lots, and I eventually can gaurantee the pup coming back to me, so I can now put the word Come to it. I also train Sit…..put the treat practically on the pup’s nose, and raise my hand over its head. Pup raises head, and plops into a Sit…..easy!! For the Down you can just lower your hand to the ground from the Sit. (I prefer a cantilever down ). I do this from the stand, and, with treat underneath the dogs nose, put the treat between the pup’s front legs towards the chest and the ground…..you might get a bow first, so sometimes a little helping hand to put the rear down…..voila…the Down! I teach h/w, with the pup following my hand with a treat in it. All of this can be taught at six weeks and by twelve weeks the pup can do all of this. Sooooo easy!!!! After 12 weeks it gets harder.
Good Luck!!!!!!!!!
my friend is being deployed to the UAE in Jan. and is staying for 8 months. He said ff's dont fight they just train and wait.
